As our readers will recall from earlier articles, the terms for the prohibition on termination of employment contracts and mandatory unpaid leave were extended for a period of two months until 17 May 2021.
The Presidential Decree numbered 3930 published in the Official Gazette dated 30 April 2021 extended the terms for termination prohibition and mandatory unpaid leave again until 30 June 2021.
As per Temporary Article 10 of the Labour Law that regulates the termination prohibition and mandatory unpaid leave, the President’s authority to extend the restrictions is limited by 30 June 2021, and a new extension after this date is not possible unless the said article is amended by the parliament.
